I invite you to sing this song for peace with me. And because you may not be Jewish, or you may be Jewish but never have learned this song, here is a lovely man from YouTube to teach it to you if that’s helpful.
I know very few songs in Hebrew; I think we learned several when I was a kid, but I have forgotten all but three of them. But we sang this one often in Sunday School. at services, and in youth group gatherings when I was a child, because one of the central messages of my Jewish upbringing was that we are a peaceful people.
We’re all—Jews, Palestinians, and anyone who loves peace—hurting in profound and terrible ways right now. I find knowing that I join people of all faiths and backgrounds in wishing for peace, or praying for peace, and more importantly working toward a world in which there can be peace, the only comfort in this moment. So invite you to join me. Sing along. Work along.
May there be better days, and may they come soon.
😢
Thank you. This song will become my constant prayer for peace.
