When Aunt Josie said “don’t write about the family,” I’m sure Bonnie and Big John were not included in who she meant, since they weren’t her family, so I think I’m still in the clear. :D
Until lately, I had mostly assumed all my family branches were the a**hole redneck branches. There was always the great uncle who went to school long enough to become a veterinarian, and my mother's baby cousin, who won a national water ski contest, but there were so many more we had to drag the river for, or peel off a railroad track, reeking of bathtub gin. Now, I know this is all called being human. But I still don't find a great deal of anything like glory, or even ordinary kindness, or decent biscuits, in my family. My own mother told me to take typing in high school so I'd have "something to fall back on." I didn't mind her, advice, but I also had no idea what sort of falling I'd be doing, because she didn't tell me that part, either. I think it's something that you are descended from Albert, and figure you might use some redneck to balance it all out.
