I wear my chai necklace every day, both to reaffirm my identity and to signal to other Jews my solidarity. Twice non-Jews have asked me if I’m a mathematician. They mistake the chai for a pi.

Yes, I think you look lovely and so does the necklace. I have a bracelet with the star on it. I think it makes a gentle statement. We don’t want to be “ in your face” with anyone, nor do we want them to be that way to us.

Sarah,

Mazel Tov on your intentional and magical journey into Judaism and Israel. I admire and I am impressed with your search to find meaningful people, places and things that speak to your soul/neshama. Your contributions to "Never Alone" is important and impactful. I recommend Rabbi Sharon Brous' book "The Amen Effect" to learn about our Jewish tradition of finding community and not feeling alone.

All my best, Love Martha

Martha,

I have added it to my list of books to read! (And bumped it up a bit, because that is one very long list.) Thank you.

Love,

Sarah
